Chevermeto
Bulgaria
Celebrating all things Bulgarian, Chevermeto offers tourists a night of traditional food and folky entertainment. From 8pm each evening, a selection of folk acts will sing, dance and entertain, encouraging you to join them on stage should you so desire.
In keeping with the traditional theme, there is also a 'lamb cheverme' cooking every evening, which is where the restaurant gets its name from. Cheverme is a traditional Bulgarian cooking method in which the meat is grilled over an open fire or hot coals. It's slow roasted for hours, and when cooked is covered with pine branches in order to add flavour. Traditionally the dish is enjoyed with Rakia or red wine.
Having recently moved to a new location, the restaurant is now housed within a modern building, which sadly doesn't quite suit its style. Yet the inside more than compensates with its wooden beams and colourful furniture. The entire dining experience is a fantastic display of all things Bulgarian, satisfying tourists who want to enjoy local traditions.
