Description
Your first stop on this tour is the Golyama Kosmatka Thracian tomb, one of the largest mounds ever found on the Balkan peninsula, dating back to the end of the 5th-century. It is here that archaeologists believe they have found the tomb of the greatest Thracian king, Seuthes III. Next, you will explore the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, impressive for its unique frescoes dating back to the 4th-century. The exceptionally well-preserved frescoes and the condition of the original structure reveal the high level of culture and pictorial art in Hellenistic Thrace. Admire the golden wreath made of oak branches of Seuthes III in the local historical museum, dedicated to the rich cultural heritage of the Kazanlak region, including the tombs from the Valley of the Thracian rulers. The final stop on the tour is the small but charming Rose Museum in Kazanlak, housed in the Rose Institute and featuring exhibits related to rose harvesting and rose oil-production in Bulgaria. Kazanlak is famous for its rose-oil production and the rose is actually one of the symbols of Bulgaria.Includes
