Hanska Shatra
Bulgaria
Located to the north of Sunny Beach, on a high hill with awesome views of Nesebar, Sunny Beach and St Vlas, lies Hanskata Shatra, a top place for entertainment and hearty dining. The name comes after the shape of the building, 'han' stands for a tribal chief of the ancient Bulgarians and 'shatra' is the type of tent they used to live in. Indeed, the structure of the building resembles an ancient nomad tent. Hanskata Shatra dates back to socialist times and is probably one of the very few tourist attractions that have survived the changes and are still enjoying popularity. The restaurant has a special throne hall on the walls of which you can read about the ancient Bulgarians' lifestyle and traditions. The waiters all wear beards (like their ancient ancestors); there is a live band and the traditional cabaret show with dancers, acrobats, clowns, jugglers and more. There is a piano bar in the lower part of the building and a spacious terrace with gorgeous views of the surrounding area. You can reach the Hanska Shatra by taxi, bus or a real horse carriage.
