One of my favorite go-tos in Sofia is 'Mythos' in the Lozenets neighborhood. Their moussaka and grilled octopus feel like a little vacation in themselves. And if you wander into Plovdiv, check out 'Aegean Breeze' near the Kapana district,it’s not just about the food, the atmosphere there has a laid-back, cozy touch that makes dinner linger longer than you planned.

Heads up: Greek restaurants here often incorporate a slightly Bulgarian twist, whether that’s in the herbs they use or small tweaks to popular recipes. It’s not a bad thing, just a little reminder you’re dining abroad. If you come in summer, see if they have a nice rosé chilled on tap,great alongside a serving of saganaki. Oh, and order your tzatziki a little extra garlicky. Trust me, it’s worth it.
