Chinese Restaurants in Bulgaria

If you’re craving Chinese food while in Bulgaria, you’ll find some spots that really get it right, and others that miss the mark. Most big cities like Sofia and Plovdiv have restaurants mixing traditional Chinese dishes with a bit of local flavor. Don’t expect heaps of options everywhere though , these places tend to be tucked away, sometimes in shopping centers or off the main streets.

One of my favorites in Sofia is a little place called Ling Long, near the Studentski Grad area. It’s small and humble, but the dim sum and hand-pulled noodles make it worth the visit. And if you’re wandering around Varna during the summer, check out the restaurant Red Dragon by the sea,locals rave about their Peking duck, especially after a hot beach day.

Keep in mind, many Chinese restaurants here tailor their menu a bit to suit Bulgarian tastes, so don’t be surprised if some dishes are milder or sweeter than what you’d find in China. If you want something closer to authentic, ask for dishes like Mapo tofu or hot pot, and maybe push for more spice. One pro tip: weekends can get busy in Sofia’s Chinese spots, so booking ahead can save you waiting around. Honestly, it’s the kind of food you want fresh and quick.
