The Seven Rila Lakes are a group of glacial lakes located in the Rila Mountains of Bulgaria, situated within the Rila National Park. Each lake has its own unique characteristics and name, typically derived from its distinguishing feature or folklore. Here's a brief description of each: The Tear (Salzata): This is the highest of the lakes, and its name derives from its clear waters that resemble a teardrop. It's also the deepest of the lakes. The Eye (Okoto): This lake is named for its perfectly oval shape, resembling an eye. It's famous for its deep blue color and is the most visited of the Seven Rila Lakes. The Kidney (Babreka): As the name suggests, this lake is kidney-shaped. It's known for its distinctive turquoise color, caused by the minerals dissolved in its waters. The Twin (Bliznaka): This lake consists of two interconnected bodies of water, hence the name 'twin.' It's situated between the Kidney Lake and the Eye Lake. The Trefoil (Trilistnika): This lake is named after its three lobes, which give it a clover-like shape. It's located below the Twin Lake.
