From Sofia: Day Tour to Nis, Serbia
281 ReviewsA day tour to Serbia from Sofia to better understand the Balkans in all their complexity, history and colorful mixture of cultures and habits.
Sofia Arsenal - Museum for Contemporary Art is a living proof of a successful EU money project in support of art and culture. The old shabby building has been masterfully face-lifted and rejuvenated and is now a piece of contemporary art on its own. Wood, glass and natural ceramics are the materials used. The glass ramps and stairs outside create an airy feeling of floating up and down and the glass wall acts as a symbolic glass curtain providing transparency and shelter at the same time. Inside space is huge and light while the surrounding green area is slowly converting into an open air sculpture exhibition. In brief, in its current state Sofia Arsenal Museum for Contemporary Art represents a modern complex with functionally arranged exhibition spaces and dominating 'green' design solutions.
Sofia Arsenal - Museum for Contemporary Art is located in the central part of Sofia, in the green space between the Earth and Man Museum and the Hilton hotel. There are convenient public transport connections and the closest hub is NDK (National Palace of Culture) which is only few minutes walk away. Entrance tickets cost 3 leva, discounts apply for students and pensioners, Art School students get free admission.
