SOFIA RUN Tour
Bulgaria
Every morning from 06:30 on weekdays and a bit later on weekends, an hour (at least!) of running and sightseeing in the center of Sofia, why not? This alternative, healthy and very green alternative way to see and learn more about the capital is introduced by SofiaRun, a group of young enthusiasts and keen runners who readily share their knowledge about Sofia and their love for jogging. Call them in advance and they can even collect you from your hotel (provided it is on or near the route).
There are 3 main options to choose from that differ in distance and difficulty. The Classic Sofia Sightseeing Jogging Tour covers about 10 km and offers the most and the best there is to see from ancient Roman sites to green parks and areas, from old churches and other religious temples to conserved urban symbols of a past socialist era. The Lazy Sofia Sightseeing Jogging Tour covers about 3 to 5 km of easy jogging route and passes by some of the major landmarks in the city centre. The meeting point for both these tours is the Sveta Nedelya Square, just next to the St. Nedelya Church. The Green Sofia Jogging Tour explores mainly the city's parks and sport facilities. The meeting point is the Ariana Lake in the Borisova Garden.
All these running events are handled by professional running guides who make sure to set the pace just right. They successfully mix history and story-telling while on the run and will tell you about all the sights you will be passing by. Tours are free on the weekends, guides work on the name-your-own-price basis - it is up to you to decide how much to give them according to your budget and estimation of their performance.
For prices, further details and more running events please check their website.
