Abajur
Bulgaria
Abajur is the word we Bulgarians use for 'lampshade'. The word came from the French abatjour, light-breaker. There are thousands of abajurs (lampshades) in this exquisite restaurant in the center of Sofia thus illustrating its name. It is remarkable to watch how the light breaks and comes out in different shades of blue, pink, purple, yellow or green.
The place is roughly split in 3 serving areas - restaurant, garden and wine bar.
The gorgeous outside garden features white lightweight tables and chairs and cozy green booths separated by leafy ivy walls and furnished with soft green sofas. Purple lampshades are present, too.
The long bent bar counter inside, the soft wall benches and the tall wine racks create a successful blend of the comforts of a restaurant and the esprit of a bar.
Abajur's extensive menu features mainly Mediterranean dishes and specialties. The ingredients used are local organic and the food is cooked and prepared with modern healthy eating methods and technologies.
A wide wine selection of local and imported wines made with the expert advice of an experienced sommelier and the delightful choice of delicious tapas developed by the chef, have made the wine bar an attractive gourmet and social spot.
Open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 till 01:00 Abajur can accommodate up to 350 guests in the three serving areas.
