Description
Meet your English speaking guide at the St Nedelya Cathedral. The guide will distribute the head phones to each participant. The tour will start with visit to the Roman ruins in the Largo area. Then you will continue to the Mineral spring enjoying the running 46 degrees mineral water. You will pass by the Mosque Banya Bashi, the Central Covered Market and the Public Bath house. From here you will see the dome of the Synagogue. Continue to the Triangle of political power. Here you will pass by the Council of Ministers, the Party House and the President's Palace. In the back yard of the President's Palace admire the most ancient building in Sofia, the Rotonda St George. In front of it is the oldest mosque in Sofia, called the Buyuk Mosque (the big mosque). Proceed to the City garden where is proudly standing one of the most beautiful buildings in Sofia, the National Theatre. Continue to the Royal Palace and the location where once stood the giant Mausoleum housing the body of the most renown Bulgarian communist leader Georgi Dimitrov. Head towards the Russian church and climb the hill where is the St Sophia church. At the corner with Moskovska street is proudly standing the former Russian Embassy. Here you will also visit the imposing St Aleksander Nevski Cathedral. Admire its beautiful interior and get acquainted with history of the Orthodox religion in Bulgaria. From the same location is visible the statue of the Russian Emperor Alexander the Second as well as the National Assembly, the Sofia University and the Square 500 Art Gallery housed in a building of a former state printing house.
