Description
Tandem paragliding flights in Bulgaria offer a unique, engine-free flying experience where you hear only the wind on your face. Flights depart from natural sites accessible by short hikes or off-road vehicles, making the journey part of the adventure.
Near Sofia, flights take off from Vitosha Mountain, reachable by public transport followed by a 25-minute hike. Flights here are typically available from summer to late autumn.
Near Veliko Tarnovo, the main takeoff sites are Skalsko—a 40-minute drive from the city with a launch platform on a rocky cliff—and a site near Kazanlak, located in the Balkan Mountains close to the Buzludzha monument. This area includes the Rose Valley, known for its historic Thracian king tombs and rose oil production. Access to the Buzludzha launch site is often provided by a high-clearance off-road vehicle.
In Sopot, 60 km north of Plovdiv, flights are centered around sport paragliding with seasonality dependent on cable car operating hours.
All flights include photos and videos and require only a few steps following pilot instructions. Passenger weight must not exceed 120 kg. Passengers above 100 kg or children under 40 kg must be declared prior to booking.
