Description

Saeva Dupka Cave, located at 520 meters above sea level, is one of Bulgaria's notable caves. It features the largest stalactite in Bulgaria, with a circumference of 60 meters. The cave is 205 meters long, with an underground river flowing 70 meters below the surface. Its average temperature ranges between 7–11°C, and humidity levels vary from 90% to 98%. The cave is estimated to be around 3 million years old.

Prohodna Cave is a natural rock bridge corridor, formed approximately 66–68 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous period. Historically filled by the Iskar River, the water now flows beneath the cave due to erosion and seismic activity that caused the cave corridor to split.

The nearby Zlatna Panega River emerges from Bulgaria’s largest karst spring, Glava Panega, which produces 4,000 liters per second at 188 meters above sea level. The river runs northward through a gorge before reaching the town of Lukovit. The whole journey covers around 9 to 10 hours.
