Description
This full-day tour starts with a morning pick-up from your Sofia hotel, followed by a two-and-a-half-hour drive to Devetashka Cave. This large, naturally lit cavern has a rich history, from prehistoric human habitation to use as a Roman food storage site and a Cold War military base. Its grand arches were also featured in the film The Expendables 2.
Next, explore Krushuna Waterfalls, Bulgaria’s largest travertine cascade. Known for its emerald-blue pools and surrounding forest, the falls offer impressive views year-round. Even in summer, when water flow reduces, the mossy terraces remain visually striking.
Afterward, enjoy a local lunch in Lovech before discovering the town’s main attractions. Walk across the 19th-century Covered Bridge, the only one of its type in the Balkans, and then climb to the Medieval Fortress for panoramic views of the town and river. The tour concludes with a comfortable drive back to Sofia for an evening drop-off.
