Description
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel at 9:00 AM. After a short drive to Vitosha Mountain, you will reach the meteorological tower, where you can see panoramic views of Sofia. The guide will provide insights into the city’s history and geography.
You will then visit “The Bells” complex, connected to the 1979 “Flag of Peace” initiative, which gathered children from 135 countries who contributed unique bells from their homelands.
Returning to Sofia city center, you’ll start a walking tour at the National Archaeological Museum, showcasing valuable cultural treasures. On the way, you will see Sofia’s oldest building, the 4th-century Roman early Christian church of St. George. After the museum, lunch is available at a restaurant housed in a former medieval mosque, offering views of nearby archaeological remains.
Your tour continues at the “Ladies Market,” where you will learn about life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Nearby, you’ll pass a synagogue located opposite an active mosque and a Catholic church, forming the “Square of Tolerance.” After visiting the Sofia History Museum, you will walk past the Communist administrative center, St. Sofia Church, Sofia University, and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, where the tour concludes. Your guide can answer final questions and offer a ride back to your hotel if needed.
