Description
Koprivshtitsa is a historic town located 111 kilometers east of Sofia, nestled in the Sredna Gora mountains along the Topolnitsa River. It played a significant role in the 1876 April Uprising and is renowned for its authentic Bulgarian architecture and folk music traditions.
The town preserves the atmosphere of the 19th-century Bulgarian National Revival period. Visitors can explore cobblestone streets and tour six of the 383 unique houses and monuments from that era, most carefully restored to their original condition.
Local cuisine features homemade products like cow and sheep’s milk yogurt, Shopska salad, broiled lamb, and other authentic Bulgarian rustic dishes. Complement your meal with a glass of local rakia (brandy).
