Description

Traditional Food Stop Leaving Sofia in the morning, we make a short stop in the Bulgarian countryside to discover local food, regional products, and traditional flavours. Museum of Humour and Satire Our first stop in Gabrovo is the city’s famous Museum of Humour and Satire, where we explore the sharp wit and self-irony that made Gabrovo Bulgaria’s capital of humour. Gabrovo City Centre We continue on foot to explore the centre, discovering the most emblematic monuments. Traditional Bulgarian Lunch We pause for lunch in a traditional restaurant, with time to enjoy local dishes in a relaxed setting. Aprilov National School Museum Next, we visit the historic Aprilov School, one of the symbols of Bulgaria’s National Revival and the development of modern Bulgarian education. Etar Open-Air Ethnographic Museum In the afternoon, we explore Etar, where cobbled streets, water-powered workshops, and working artisans bring traditional Bulgarian crafts to life. Hotel Check-In & Free Time in the Evening After Etar, we return to Gabrovo for hotel check-in and a free evening to rest or explore independently. Veliko Tarnovo & Local Café The next morning, we travel to Veliko Tarnovo and begin with a stop at a local specialty café before entering the old royal capital. Tsarevets Fortress We explore Tsarevets Fortress with a guided visit through the heart of medieval Bulgaria, learning about its rulers, palaces, churches, and dramatic history. Old Town & Samovodska Charshiya After the guided part, enjoy free time to continue exploring the fortress or walk through the old town, traditional craft streets, shops, and cafés. Traditional Dinner & Fire Theatre In the evening, we gather for dinner and drinks, followed by a private folklore-inspired fire theatre performance. Free Time in the Morning & Return to Sofia After breakfast, enjoy a final relaxed morning in Veliko Tarnovo before travelling comfortably back to Sofia.
