Description
The tour departs early from Sofia to the Rila Mountains, where you will visit the impressive Rila Monastery. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a prime example of Bulgarian Renaissance architecture and art. During a guided visit of the monastery’s inner yard and museum, you will learn about its history and cultural significance.
After the museum, there is free time to explore the monastery complex and the surrounding nature. A lunch break is planned at a roadside restaurant by the river, offering an opportunity to sample Bulgarian dishes (lunch not included). You will also have time to take photos and purchase souvenirs.
On the return journey, the tour stops at Boyana Church, located on the outskirts of Sofia in Vitosha Mountain. This UNESCO site comprises three buildings from the 10th to 19th centuries.
