Description

Once the wealthiest and most important city in the Thrace Valley, today Plovdiv still offers visitors many incredible places and memories. Standing proudly on the banks of Maritsa River, the town will amaze you with its beauty. With every step you make, ancient Phillipopolis and new Plovdiv reveal different pages from their wonderful history.  The location of the city is not accidental. Chosen by the founders of Plovdiv, the Thracians, the region is proud of the fantastic wine that has been produced here for centuries. Feel the spirit of Plovdiv and taste its unique wine. The city of Plovdiv, with its museums, historical sites, ancient houses and paved streets, was proudly the European Capital of Culture in 2019. Your tour begins from central Serdika Meeting Point in Sofia at 08:30. After a 2-hour transfer a guided visit of the old town with a professional guide in English will take you to see the house museums of the Old town, Nebet Tepe hill, St. Constantine and Helena church, the Pharmacy, the Roman Theater and Stadium and will end at the Mosque square. Here you will have some free time (1h-1h30) to enjoy new town pedestrian street for a drink, light lunch or just a relaxing stroll. Around 13:30 you will continue to a village near Plovdiv and make a short stop at the 4th century Red Church. Then you will have a visit in a beautiful craft beer brewery with some live or video explanations about the process of brewing one of the best craft beers in Bulgaria. Brewing the craft beer is a clean process in fairly small quantities with quality products and without any additional sugar or preservatives, no pasteurisation process and short preservation period. Don't miss to try Moma - a great beer made only from local products! At around 16:00 you will start your journey back to Sofia with wonderful memories of the day and the tour van will drop you off at the same central Serdika Meeting Point.
