Directions to Renaissance Plovdiv
At the very border between the Old Town and the new city of Plovdiv lies Renaissance. This quaint, family-run boutique hotel offers modern comforts in the pleasant environment of a restored authentic house from the period of the Bulgarian Revival. The hotel is located at the foot of the Old Town and only a short walk (about 10 minutes) from the city's pedestrian center. There is a public parking lot in front with spaces reserved for the guests of the hotel - a real advantage in this part of town. The café next door is an authentic 'kafene' (coffee shop) of historical value. The legend goes that in this coffee shop the murals on its walls are over 200 years old and that important events from the life of Plovdiv and Bulgaria have taken place here. Peek inside if you have the time and look around for a taste of the local experience. Want more history? Or more stunning picture material? Just turn right at the hotel and you will immediately enter the medieval bliss of Old Plovdiv, lined with steep and narrow cobbled streets, beautiful Revival style houses, cute little cafés and plentiful shops and workshops.
The Renaissance hotel also bears the Revival spirit. The house has been carefully restored and renovated while the key features and design elements have been preserved. The beautiful staircase, the pretty wall decorations, the solid wood furniture, even the rich draped curtains and hand-painted rosettes, all aim to take us centuries back in time and entice us in the charm and romance of a past era. Each of the 4 rooms (and 1 apartment) are painted in different colour. Deep pastel colours have been used, and each room is named after the colour it was decorated in - the Pink room, the Green room, the Blue room, the Yellow room, the Red room. All rooms are clean, spacious, equipped with all modern amenities as well as private facilities and some of them with gorgeous views of the city.
Aware of the abundance of restaurants and eateries in this part of town, we still strongly recommend you try the hotel's restaurant next door. The food is simply delicious. Fresh, tasty with excellent service from English speaking staff you can either try a local dish or stick to the international menu. The same goes for the wines, a good choice of local and imported wines compliment the food well. The cool garden outside is a great place to sit and dine in the hot Plovdiv nights, or make a short stop before heading off to explore the City of the Hills or do business.
Brilliant location, good rooms and facilities, affordable prices and excellent service - this is what Renaissance Plovdiv sells the best. They pride themselves on the fact that many guests return to them year after year, most are already considered friends. The charming owner is a person who strives to promote the family business, with a warm and personalized customer approach. He takes active part in everyday chores, speaks excellent English and is always willing to assist with information, arrangements and other services, if required. Due to his earnest efforts, this quaint hotel can feel like a home from home for travellers. So, if you are in Plovdiv for business or pleasure you can always find a friendly welcome here at a great price.
