Hotel Lumparov House
Bulgaria
You will find Lumparov House Hotel in Melnik, the smallest town in Bulgaria, hiding under the imposing limestone rocks which the little town is so famous for. The hotel is a renovated monument of culture and architecture which has managed to preserve the authentic atmosphere of the Bulgarian 19th-century well-to-do house. It is run by a nice family who will show you the typical Bulgarian hospitality and cater to your every need.
Lumparov House Hotel offers six rooms on two floors, accommodating a total of 15-18 guests. Each room has a unique interior design and boasts an impressive set of paintings by Bulgarian artists. Despite their authentic style, though, the rooms are fully equipped with all sorts of conveniences such as TV sets and bathrooms. One of the best places in the hotel is the main hall with the awesome stained glass door where you can enjoy your afternoon tea or marvel at the spectacular view from the balcony. And if you want to get extra cosy, just ask for the room with the fireplace.
The hotel's tavern flaunts a large fireplace and is furnished in a typical Bulgarian style. It doesn't have a fixed menu to pick from but you can order whatever you like or ask the hotel managers to recommend a local specialty. They will then personally cook your dish and serve it to you. For breakfast you will most likely get mekitsas or banitsas (they are delicious, don't worry) garnished with homemade wild berry jam and yoghurt.
The wine-cellar is definitely the main attraction of the hotel. Its castle-like tranquility and raw magnetism stem from the fact that it is built directly into the rocks beneath the hotel. The temperature there is always around 12 °C which helps for the locally produced wine to maintain its rich taste. The cellar is often visited by devoted wine lovers who relish wine-tasting and enjoy engaging in all kinds of wine-related activities.
Lumparov House Hotel may not have a bar, a swimming pool or a spa centre, but it nevertheless manages to compensate for that by providing its guests with an enticing blend of beautiful nature, peaceful atmosphere and special first-class service.
The hotel's location makes it the perfect starting point for trips to some of Bulgaria's most notable landmarks such as Rozhen Monastery, Rupite Area and Vanga Church, the mineral springs of Sandanski and Marikostinovo, etc.
