Directions to Arkan Han Hotel Trigrad
Lying hidden in a lush meadow, surrounded by the green hills of the mighty Rhodope Mountains, Arkan Han Hotel is a truly remarkable spot whose multifaceted beauty is only matched by the supernatural magnificence of the area where it is located. There are hardly any words powerful enough to describe how awesome and immaculate their marriage is... still, it is our duty to try and find them.
Arkan Han Hotel is situated in the nice village of Trigrad at the very heart of the Rhodope Mountains, some 220 km southeast of Sofia and 120 km away from Plovdiv, far from all the noise and traffic of the big city. Its close proximity to some of the Rhodope Mountains' most precious natural landmarks, such as the Trigradsko Zhdrelo (Gorge), the Devil's Throat Cave and Yagodinska Cave, for instance, makes the hotel perfect for adventurous souls and nature lovers, but the quiet, relaxing atmosphere it offers also attracts many peace-and-calm-seeking families, couples and groups of friends.
From an architectural point of view, Arkan Han Hotel is a real masterpiece. It is designed as a traditional 18th-century Bulgarian mansion with whitewashed facades, stone walls, wooden balconies and massive doors. Every single room and apartment has a unique interior full of classical features such as wooden floors and window-frames, hand-woven wool rugs and typical furniture from the Bulgarian National Revival period that combine very well with all the modern-day amenities one will find there.
The cosy restaurant at the hotel can hold up to 40 people and serves an impressive variety of local dishes and tasty homemade meals and desserts, while Samar Bar is the place where you can sit through the day and relax with a refreshing drink or a hot beverage. In summer, the hotel's bar hosts many rock and jazz gigs as well as traditional Bulgarian bagpipe concerts (that's one of the symbols of the Rhodope Mountains, after all) whose one and only goal is to give guests a real good time. In addition to that, Arkan Han Hotel also has a spacious conference hall that is excellent for business meetings, seminars and exhibitions. When the work is done and if the weather outside is cold or the lawn is wet, it easily converts into a comfortable yoga studio with plenty of natural light to facilitate successful yoga practices.
However, we personally consider the amazing equestrian centre of the hotel to be its biggest highlight. It can be found right next to Samar Bar and there people can acquire useful information about equestrianism from professional instructors, learn how to saddle and ride a horse or just improve on their horse riding skills and learn some new fun tricks.
Apart from all the live music shows and horse riding activities, Arkan Han Hotel also organises a whole bunch of other events and happenings for guests to enjoy, including weddings, birthday parties, team-building and corporate events and many more. Those who are up for it can attend the yoga classes held at the hotel, outside in the open when the weather allows it or inside on the real wooden floor when the weather is bad. Arkan Han Hotel is the dream place for your wedding, not only because of the awesome peaceful surroundings but mainly because the team there can organize everything from scratch, from printing the invites to the flower arrangements. The nearby natural landmarks we already mentioned are a good option for those who would like to see more of the area and bird watchers should know that Trigrad Gorge is the best place in Europe where you can find and see well the beautiful enigmatic Wallcreeper. Of course, the adrenaline aficionados can engage in various high octane activities such as mountain climbing, biking, off-road motorcycling, caving, cave kayaking and archery.
